Consultation description

Directive 2014/52/EU amended the Environmental Impact Assessment Directive (Directive 2011/92/EU) and is required to be transposed by 16 May 2017. The purpose of Directive 2014/52/EU is to improve the process of assessing the effects of certain public and private projects on the environment.

This consultation paper is specifically seeking comments on the Department's proposals to update its environmental impact assessment legislation in respect of agricultural water resources projects in order to transpose Directive 2015/52/EU. The Department is proposing to revoke and replace the Water Resources (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005.

Following the close of the consultation, the Department has prepared a synopsis of the responses received during the consultation period.
