Firewood can carry pests and diseases, so ensure that firewood purchased is Kiln Dried or Bark Free.

Destructive bark beetles can 'hitchhike' on imported firewood. Full pest mortality may only be achieved when high temperature ovens are used to kiln-dry firewood.

Whether you are a user or seller, for imported ash or conifer firewood you must only buy kiln-dried or bark free logs. These terms are usually printed on the labels or packaging.

The term 'Seasoned' means that the firewood has only been air dried, and does not conform to pest and disease control measures.
