Emergency fund for dairy farmers

The EU Dairy Fund 2015 provides for emergency payments to milk producers in Britain and the north of Ireland who are suffering significant price falls as a result of falling global demand for milk and milk products. It provides for an additional payment to dairy farmers in the north of Ireland who have suffered more extensive price falls.

Eligibility

The Rural Payments Agency (RPA) is now making payments from the EU Dairy Fund 2015 on behalf of DARD.  In order to be eligible, a milk producer will need to have produced milk in 2014/15.

The initial tranche of the payments will be made to those dairy farmers for whom the RPA has up-to-date banking details.  Those for whom these details are still being checked and verified will follow at the earliest opportunity.  The RPA aims to have all payments made by the end of the year.

At this stage milk producers do not have to take any action.  DARD will contact the small number of eligible milk producers for which it does not have up-to-date banking details.

Milk producers will be able to identify the Dairy Fund payment in their bank accounts. Payments will be made by the RPA.
