Holders of installation or waste permits must operate in accordance with the Pollution Prevention and Control (Industrial Emissions) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013 and holders of radioactive substances certificates must operate in accordance with the Radioactive Substances Act 1993 (RSA93).
We normally expect all permit and certificate holders to comply in full with all the conditions of those permits/certificates, including conditions requiring monitoring and reporting of emissions to air and water and other environmental monitoring and reporting.
If you follow the conditions in these COVID-19 regulatory position statements (RPSs), you can make certain reasonable adjustments to these requirements. For example, you can delay and reschedule some monitoring requirements specified in your permit/certificate.
These COVID-19 RPSs only apply if you cannot comply with the monitoring and reporting requirements specified in your permit/certificate due to COVID-19 restrictions. You must get written agreement from the Chief Inspector – (Northern Ireland Environment Agency) before you use these COVID-19 RPSs.
You can view these Temporary Regulatory Position Statements for monitoring and reporting emissions from PPC installations, waste sites, and radioactive substances certificate holders at the links below:
