Brexit Fisheries Bill questions & answers

What is the Fisheries Bill for?

The Fisheries Bill will provide new powers to enable the UK to carry out its responsibilities as an independent coastal state – setting catch limits, licensing foreign vessels and controlling access to UK waters.

Fisheries Administrations continue to work on the Government’s proposed amendments to the Bill responding to points raised in the Committee report and amendments put forward by MPs. There are still no dates set for the Report Stage/Third Reading of the Bill and it is not clear whether the Bill will receive Royal Assent before exit day.
