Consultation description

The Nitrates Action Programme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 (the 2010 NAP Regulations) set out an action programme to reduce nitrates from agricultural sources entering the aquatic environment. The purpose of this consultation is to seek your views on the Departments’ proposals to:

  • revise the action programme, revoke the 2010 NAP Regulations and make the Nitrates Action Programme Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014 (2014 NAP Regulations)
  • revoke the Phosphorus (Use in Agriculture) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2006 and make the Phosphorus (Use in Agriculture) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014
  • consolidate relevant parts of the Control of Pollution (Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 into the 2014 NAP Regulations
