Consultation description

A core component of the strategy to achieve growth is promoting better regulation and encouraging deregulation. Proposals have been sought so that changes can be made to the existing regulations for the collection, treatment recovery, recycling and re-use of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

The proposed changes to the WEEE system are an important part of the strategy so a simplified means of compliance especially for small producers and greater flexibility that would allow local authorities, who play a vital part in the collection of unwanted items, to maximise the potential income from their WEEE collections.
