The Transition period is coming to an end on 31 December 2020. During the transition period the UK continues to follow EU regulations while the UK and EU negotiate additional arrangements. However new rules will take effect on 1 January 2021. The European Union (Withdrawal Agreement) Act 2020, specifically the Ireland/Northern Ireland Protocol, will have a significant impact on DAERA stakeholders.
The actions business owners and individuals will need to take vary based on their circumstances. While the detail of some of the procedural changes is currently still under negotiation, we recognise it is important that our stakeholders are kept up to date and are committed to sharing what we know and don’t know at any point in time. We have developed questions and answers, available below, to help you and your business prepare for the end of Transition. Further information and updates will be posted as they become available.
