This guidance document is an important step towards protecting the environment through informing the industry of the environmental and commercial benefits that will be delivered through pollution prevention, environmental monitoring and the wise use of water.

The results of the AFBI-CAFRE Heifer Rearing Survey and replacement heifer rearing management guidelines based on research findings at AFBI and other research centres have been compiled into a summary booklet entitled Rearing your 2010 herd”. 

Mobility scoring is a system whereby cows are scored on a scale of 0-3 based on their mobility, with 0 being good and 3 being a severely lame cow.

This document is a survey of the badger population in Northern Ireland for 2007/2008. To date, two country-wide surveys have been completed to allow a fuller understanding of the number and distribution of the undisturbed badger population in NI.

New standards and conditions are being developed in stages. This is because, in some cases, progress depends on the completion of classification schemes, or on European negotiations.
