Project Description: The Belfast Tidal Flood Alleviation Scheme (BTFAS) runs along an 8km stretch of the River Lagan from Belfast Harbour to the Stranmillis Weir. The application for a Marine Licence covers a 200m stretch of towpath extension by the construction of a stone revetment adjacent the existing Ravenhill Quay Wall. The existing quay wall has visible structural impairments and the works carried out will ensure there is no further collapse. The soft riverbed material below the footprint of the revetment will be removed and disposed of to landfill. The revetment will be constructed by placing core material on the dredged riverbed and gradually working up and out of the water and then along , creating a working platform as the revetment is constructed.
