Natural Environment Map Viewer

Before you start

On this version of the new NIEA Map Viewer you can view the location of natural environment areas of interest including; NIEA protected areas and NIEA surveyed priority habitats and species. Basemap services are provided by Land and Property Services ©Crown Copyright.

• To get started, click the Map Layers widget to access the layers in this viewer and click the checkbox to activate each layer.
• Expand each layer to view each sub-layer and click each checkbox to activate these sub-layers.
• Click the About widget for more information on this viewer.

The viewer presents data from surveys undertaken by NIEA and partner organisations and does not represent a complete record of habitats or species across Northern Ireland. Absence of data should not be interpreted as absence of environmental features. The viewer is intended to support general environmental understanding and early screening only. For site‑specific assessment or decision‑making, a full ecological survey carried out by a suitably qualified professional may be required.

Whilst every effort is made to keep the Map Viewer up to date, it is your responsibility to contact the data owner directly to check the accuracy and currency of data where required. Links to the appropriate source dataset or organisation are provided in the Metadata Catalogue. Users are advised to comply with the data licence terms and conditions of the data source provider of the data.
