  • CAFRE provides online learning for the food industry

    Food Technologists at the College of Agriculture Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) Loughry Campus have continued to deliver training to the food industry during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    David Black successfully completed online HACCP course.

    CAFRE’s Food Industry Training Manager, Catherine Devlin said that: “Level 2 and Level 3 Food Safety and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) courses which were traditionally delivered face to face at Loughry Campus or in food company premises have been adapted for online delivery. These courses are delivered via CAFRE’s online learning environment, where candidates are supported by a CAFRE tutor.”

    In March when Ronan Delvin and David Black enrolled with CAFRE to complete a Level 3 HACCP course accredited by Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH), like many others they had expected to attend the campus, be taught in a classroom and have the opportunity to meet other candidates. However restrictions imposed by COVID-19 meant face to face delivery was not possible. Delivery of the course moved to CAFRE’s online learning environment which meant that Ronan, David like many other candidates were able to be supported by a CAFRE tutor, study from a place and at a time that suited them while obtaining their qualification.
