Developing Northern Ireland’s First Climate Action Plan: The Voice of Young People

This report, which was commissioned by DAERA and facilitated by the Education Authority Youth Service provides a comprehensive overview of the engagement with young people in Northern Ireland to help inform the first Climate Action Plan (2023-2027).
Around 40 young people from various backgrounds participated in workshops between November 2022 and January 2023. Discussions covered the topics of waste management, green jobs, transport, residential buildings, agriculture, energy, fisheries and land use.
This report underscores the importance of engaging young people in climate action and highlights their perspectives on various environmental issues.
DAERA will continue to engage with young people in the development of Northern Ireland’s first Climate Action Plan to ensure their views are considered.
