The Interim Environmental Governance Secretariat (IEGS) has released a second report on the receipt and validation of complaints referred to it for the period 1 January to 30 June 2021.

This will be the last report produced by the IEGS as it was has been superseded by an Interim Office for Environmental Protection which began functioning on 1 July 2021 on a non-statutory basis.

The OEP will assume an environmental oversight role previously undertaken by the European Commission before the UK’s withdrawal from the EU.

The Second Complaint Report details that the IEGS received nineteen complaints between 1 January 2021 and 30 June 2021 with three of these related to Northern Ireland issues.

The report is available to view on the OEP website.

Information on how to submit complaints in relation to non-compliance with environmental law by Northern Ireland public authorities is also available on the OEP website.
