Draft Northern Ireland Marine Position Paper

The Department of the Environment, and in conjunction with those other departments having marine responsibilities has prepared a Northern Ireland Marine Position Paper. The paper sets out existing departmental policies and strategies which will contribute to the sustainable development of the Northern Ireland marine area.

The Northern Ireland Marine Position Paper is intended to complement the UK wide Marine Policy Statement which was adopted in March 2011 and identifies the policy context within which a Northern Ireland Marine Plan will be developed. It also seeks to enhance the public’s understanding of the concept of marine planning.
