Summary
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) is reviewing the fees charged for membership of the Scrapie Monitored Flocks Scheme (SMFS) with a view to an uplift in 2016. This will involve the introduction of amending fees legislation. A consultation has been launched to seek the views of stakeholders.

Consultation description
The Scrapie (Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 provide the statutory basis for the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) to charge fees for membership of the Scrapie Monitored Flocks Scheme (SMFS). Current fees payable for Scheme membership are set out in the Scrapie (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013.
DARD is currently reviewing fees charged for the Scheme, with a view to introducing a revised Statutory Rule in 2016.
