  • CAFRE degree course application period extended

    Date published: 13 January 2021

Are you or a member of your family interested in studying for a degree qualification in agriculture, food, equine or horticulture? The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) is still accepting applications to study on courses starting in September 2021.

    CAFRE degree application extended 2021.

Applications to study full-time at CAFRE are made through UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. The normal deadline for receipt of applications is 15 January, but as a result of Covid-19 disruptions UCAS have announced an extension to the process to allow students to submit their applications up to 6pm on Friday 29 January.

CAFRE offers students completing A-Level or equivalent programmes with the opportunity to study for vocationally-related foundation or honours degree courses.

At Greenmount Campus in Antrim, we offer honours and foundation degree courses in agricultural technology, sustainable agriculture and agriculture and technology. All agriculture courses at CAFRE integrate the use of our extensive farming facilities offered on campus, so if your interest is in dairying, beef, sheep, machinery, technology or the environment you’ll find our facilities are outstanding in your field.

Horticulture courses are also offered at Greenmount Campus. We currently have a foundation degree in horticulture which allows students to follow careers in the sportsturf, amenity, landscaping and production sectors. This is a growing industry and so too are our courses, so keep an eye out for course announcements to enhance the horticulture course provision offered at CAFRE.

Loughry Campus offers honours and foundation degrees validated by Ulster University in the areas of food technology, food business management, food innovation and nutrition and food manufacture. Course delivery is supported by the use of the modern food technology, packaging, product innovation and sensory facilities at our Cookstown campus.

If equine is your passion, you will not find better facilities for studying an industry related qualification than at Enniskillen Campus. Equine management students have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in equitation, breeding, racing, science and business through the enterprises offered at Enniskillen Campus.

If you would like for information on any of the courses offered at CAFRE, please visit our website for details. Our team of CAFRE careers advisers are available to answer any questions you may have so please drop them a message at enquiries@cafre.ac.uk or freephone 0800 028 4291 for a chat with them.
