    Date published: 1 July 2026

College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) Food Technologists, Des Brady and Susan Kinney recently attended the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition at the RDS, Dublin.

CAFRE Advanced Manufacturing Team, Food Technologists Des Brady and Susan Kinney attended the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to explore developments in advanced manufacturing, including the latest in robotics, artificial intelligence, data-driven systems, and emerging processing technologies with strong potential application across the food industry.

“Engagement with a wide range of industry experts offered valuable insights into how effectively integrated innovations can support improved efficiency, product quality, sustainability, and supply chain performance in food production systems,” commented Des Brady, Senior Food Technologist, CAFRE. The conference also showcased advances in quality inspection technologies, smart packaging, and energy-efficient manufacturing solutions, further demonstrating their potential to be combined across modern food manufacturing operations.

A key highlight was the showcasing of the use of ultrasonic technology in food manufacturing. Applications such as cutting, portioning, sealing, and process optimisation demonstrate significant potential for enhancing precision, consistency, and waste reduction.

If your business is looking to improve efficiency, gather and use manufacturing data more effectively, optimise production processes, or explore opportunities to incorporate automation, the CAFRE Advanced Manufacturing Team is here to help.
