  • DAERA seeks views on the development of a new Northern Ireland Waste Management Strategy

    Topics:
    • Resource & Waste Policy,
    • Disposal

    Date published: 30 August 2022

As part of developing a Waste Management Strategy, DAERA will be hosting a Workshop on Thursday 29th September (9.30am—2pm) at Greenmount College Campus.

DAERA has begun work to develop a new Waste Management Strategy following publication of a target in the Environment Strategy to publish a new Strategy by 2023. The Strategy will cover new recycling and landfill reduction targets and incorporate new policy developments since 2013, such as a deposit return scheme for cans and bottles and extended producer responsibly schemes for priority waste streams like electrical goods and textiles.

Waste is an important and high-profile policy area and the Department is keen to reach out and hear the views of stakeholders as we progress this important work.

The Workshop will take place on 29th September 2022 at 9.30 am at Greenmount College Campus. If you would like to attend the event, please register your interest by sending an e-mail to: wslpr@daera-ni.gov.uk, with your name, your organisation and contact details.

Please note due to capacity constraints attendees are limited to 2 per organisation.
