  • Develop your knowledge of equine through flexible study

    Date published: 11 June 2026

At the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), we understand that full-time study isn’t always practical. That’s why we offer a variety of short and part-time equine courses, available through online and blended learning formats to fit around your schedule.

Join CAFRE’s webinar to hear about online and short courses in equine - 22 June 2026 at 7:00pm.

Delivered by knowledgeable lecturers based at Enniskillen Campus, these courses are designed to provide both practical skills and in-depth industry knowledge, helping you take the next step in your equine career.

We are hosting an online information webinar on Monday 22 June at 7:00pm. Join us to discover the range of equine courses available, hear from our teaching staff about course structures and flexible learning options available and gain insights from learners as they share their experiences.

CAFRE offers a two-year part-time course, validated by Ulster University, which is delivered exclusively online. Why not set your goal to attain a Certificate in Higher Education in Equine Science and Management through online learning, allowing you to study from anywhere in the world while learning around your commitments! This programme is ideal for those working in the Equine industry who wish to gain a recognised higher-level qualification to continue their professional development.

Commenting on the training available through CAFRE, Laura Smith, Senior Technologist said: “One of the greatest advantages of our suite of equine short courses is their flexibility. Many professionals in the industry balance long working hours with personal commitments, making full-time education impractical. We offer courses delivered through online or blended learning formats, addressing this challenge by allowing learners to study at their own pace while continuing to work. This flexible approach ensures that a wider audience, from school leavers to experienced professionals, can access training without stepping away from their careers. It also enables learners to immediately apply what they have learnt in real-world settings, reinforcing their skills and improving outcomes for both horse and rider.”

CAFRE’s accredited short courses are ideal if you want to start your equine studies without committing to attending the college full-time.  We offer a Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care and a Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care and Management. These 1st4sport approved courses are delivered through a blended learning format combining online lectures, interactive video meetings, and an on-campus examination. They provide flexibility, and professional development helping you add to your skills and knowledge of equine care.

We also offer online short courses to explore specialist equine topics. These are delivered through high-quality pre-recorded lectures, allowing you to study at your own pace, at a time and place that suits you. This flexible approach supports the development of your knowledge and skills in specific and topical areas of equine care and management.

Whether you are looking to enhance your qualifications, change career direction, or build confidence to pursue new opportunities, studying an equine course with CAFRE can support your career progression and ongoing professional development.

Join us for our free webinar on Monday 22 June at 7:00pm to hear more about Equine online and short courses offered by CAFRE.
