Find out more about studying equine at CAFRE Enniskillen Open Day

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) welcomes prospective students and their families to Enniskillen Campus Open Day on Saturday 10 October 2026.
The event will provide attendees with an opportunity to find out more about the range of equine courses available, to meet staff and current students, and to visit our industry’s leading equine facilities.
On the day CAFRE staff and student ambassadors will welcome visitors. This will be followed by an introductory session delivered by Programme Managers for Higher and Further Education outlining the range of courses available and entry requirements.
Visitors will be given the opportunity to explore the campus with guided tours. The tours will provide an insight into the accommodation and living areas available onsite as well as the teaching areas including the laboratory and Rider Performance Hub. The three equine units, Racing, Equitation and Breeding, are part of the tour and will showcase the latest technology utilised within the yards and demonstrate how practical learning is integrated within teaching.
Throughout the tour, visitors will see the example lessons delivered on equitation, horse husbandry and technology. Visitors will get to meet some of the CAFRE young stock in the breeding unit.
The event provides an opportunity for prospective students to experience the CAFRE “learning by doing ethos”. Student ambassadors are on hand throughout the day to answer questions on student life and to provide insight into their experiences.
Following the guided tours, the residential support, student support, student finance representatives and lecturing staff will be available to answer any further questions and provide any additional information.

We hope that by attending an Open Day visitors feel informed about our courses, are impressed by our facilities and are ready to progress an application to study with us.”
If you are interested in pursuing an equine career, CAFRE offers Further Education courses for students with GCSEs or equivalent qualifications. Foundation and Honours Degree programmes are available for those with A‑Level, Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications. We offer full‑time, apprenticeship, part‑time and online study routes to suit a range of learners.
