Reappointment of Board Members to the Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority

Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs Minister Andrew Muir has announced the reappointment of the following members of the Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority (NIFHA) for a further two years.
- Dr Lynn Gilmore
- David Knott
- Harry Wick
They were first appointed to NIFHA on 1 January 2021 and their reappointments run until 31 December 2026.

- The Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority (NIFHA) is a statutory Non Departmental Public Body (NDPB) established in 1973 under the Harbours Act (Northern Ireland) 1970 and the Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority Order (Northern Ireland) 1973. The Authority has responsibility for the improvement, management and maintenance of the three fishery harbours at Ardglass, Kilkeel and Portavogie.
- Dr Lynn Gilmore was first appointed to the NIFHA Board on 1 January 2021. Dr Lynn Gilmore has worked for the last eleven years in the Seafish Industry Authority, first as Seafish Northern Ireland Manager and more recently as Head of International Trade and the Regions (West). She served as a Board Member of the Cross Border Aquaculture Initiative and is an Honorary Visiting Scholar in Queen’s University Belfast.
- Harry Wick was first appointed to the NIFHA Board on 1 January 2021. Mr Harry Wick was a commissioned Royal Naval Officer for 20 years during which time he worked extensively with harbours and port authorities across the world. He is currently the Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Fish Producers’ Organisation (NIFPO), a body that represents the interests of local commercial fishing vessels.
- Mr David Knott was first appointed to the NIFHA Board on 1 January 2021. Mr David Knott recently retired from Belfast Harbour Commissioners where he was a member of the senior management team, prior to this he was Risk Manager at Bombardier Aerospace and a Director of Groundwork Northern Ireland, a social and environmental regeneration charity. He is currently a member of the RSPB Northern Ireland Advisory Committee.
- The appointments have been made in accordance with the Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments in Northern Ireland (published by the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Northern Ireland).
- The appointments were made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, the Commissioner for Public Appointments for Northern Ireland requires the political activity of appointees to be published. The appointees have not been involved in any political activity during the past five years.
- The Board Members are expected to commit in the region of 16-18 days per year, for which annual remuneration of £5,355 is paid.
