What to do if you have caught an escaped farmed Atlantic Salmon?

Report any suspected catches to DAERA Inland Fisheries at anglingcorrespondence@daera-ni.gov.uk

The following characteristics can be used to identifying a farmed Atlantic salmon from a wild Atlantic salmon. A farmed Atlantic salmon may have:

    ∙ Deformed or shortened fins

∙ Deformed or shortened gill cover/s

    ∙ Deformed or shortened/rounded snout

∙ More numerous spots than are usual on wild salmon

Fisheries regulations do not permit these fish to be retained. DAERA Inland Fisheries will monitor reports and develop further advice if needed.
