Upcoming CAFRE equine courses

Parasites and Your Horse – Online Course. CAFRE has launched a new online short course covering parasites in horses. The course will cover common parasites affecting the horse including life cycles, infestation and control methods. The course will be delivered completely online allowing flexible study at a convenient time.

The course is aimed at participants who care and manage horses at all levels, for example private owners, leisure riders, grooms, instructors, coaches, stable staff and non-equine vet nurses are all potential participants.

Two lectures will be available from 20 July until 31 August 2016. Register for this course on the CAFRE website. Registration closes 15 July 2016.

Equine Biomechanics

Centaur Biomechanics helps horses and riders of all levels improve their riding and horse’s way of going. The course will highlight horse and rider issues and options for improvements. This is a one day event looking at horse and rider performance. The event is aimed at participants who ride horses at all levels and instructors and coaches. This is a CPD Event for BHS Registered Instructors.

This event will take place on Monday 5 September 2016, 9.30am – 3.30pm at Laurel View Equestrian Centre, Templepatrick. The event costs £40 which includes lunch. For further information and to register, please contact Susan Spratt at: susan.spratt@bhs.org.uk.

Level 3 Certificate in the Principles of Horse Care and Management

This is an accredited Level 3 qualification. The course will be delivered at Greenmount Campus on a Wednesday evening from 7.15pm until 9.30pm, over a twelve week period from 28 September until 14 December 2016.

The course is aimed at participants wanting to gain a recognised qualification in horse care and management without having to attend college on a full time basis, for example private owners, small scale breeders, leisure riders and non-equine vet nurses are all potential participants. Some experience of caring for and managing horses is required.

Register for this course on the CAFRE website and registration closes on 21 September 2016 and the course fee is £70.
