Agricultural Census in Northern Ireland 2020

This publication presents initial summary estimates of the Agricultural and Horticultural Census Northern Ireland for June 2020.
Note: It should be noted that there were key methodological changes in 2020 both in how the Agricultural Census data was collected and processed. Whilst we are confident that 2020 data are broadly consistent with data produced in previous years, there are some specific variables which are more impacted than others. Data on total number of farms and labour have experienced a step change in 2020 as a direct result of the methodological changes and cannot be directly compared to equivalent figures produced previously. A detailed paper explaining this in more detail is available below.
