    • Project Description: This event is run as part of Donaghadee’s Annual Summer Festival. Sponsored by Pier 36 (£1,000) the event is jointly organised by Donaghadee Community Development Association and Gransha Equestrian. The event is organised to bring footfall to the town, raise community spirit and showcase Gransha Equestrian. Depending on weather up to 3.000 spectators could be expected. It takes place on the foreshore at low tide. Access to the beach itself is restricted to participants and officials – spectators observe from the footpath and stewards ensure no one comes on to the beach.
The event costs around £3,000 to put on. It takes around 4 hours to organise and deliver – 1 hour to set up, 2 hours to run the event and an hour to take down.
The event itself consists of 28 riders (7 teams of 4 riders) taking their horses over a series of jumps in a specified circuit with times and penalties for any jumps not completed.
