The Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ) in force across Northern Ireland and the ban on poultry gatherings will be lifted at 00:01 on Friday 15 May 2026.
A bird gathering is an event where poultry or captive birds from different locations are brought together such as for shows, sales, exhibitions, or fairs and later disperse to other locations.
All poultry and bird gatherings will be permitted from Friday 15 May 2026, provided organisers comply with the provisions of the updated General Licence for bird gatherings which can be downloaded below.
