    Reference: ML2024005
    Project Type: Construction
    Location: River Lagan, Belfast
Coordinates: Irish Grid Reference 54.590302, -5.9197131
Project Description: The Department for Infrastructure has commissioned Amey Consulting to provide a range of engineering and design services for services for a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Lagan within Belfast, Northern Ireland. The proposed bridge links the Gasworks and the Ormeau Embankment over the River Lagan within Belfast City Centre.

The river in this area is characterised by a gentle meander and is bounded by stone revetments, masonry and sheet pile quay walls, a jetty and slipway on the eastern side with the historic river structure known as McConnell Lock & Weir located to the south of the proposed bridge. The Lagan Towpath is located along the western edge of the river with the Ravenhill Reach and associated car-park located along the eastern side of the river. The width of the river at the location of the proposed footbridge is approximately 140m from bank to bank. The river varies in depth along its impounded length and contains a 1.5m incised channel throughout the length of the impoundment to facilitate small boat activities.
