Recruitment Competition to Appoint Expert Members to Advisory Group on Regulation of Dog Breeding

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is seeking to appoint members to an Expert Advisory Group to review the regulation of dog breeding in Northern Ireland.
The Group, which will be in place for six months, will be required to engage with key stakeholders and consider all relevant evidence in relation to the effectiveness of ‘The Welfare of Animals (Dog Breeding Establishments and Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2013’. The Group must also consider the need for regulation of canine fertility clinics.
The Group will be tasked with producing a report with recommendations which will help to shape the future of dog breeding in Northern Ireland.
Members will require experience in a veterinary or academic profession and in relation to the welfare of companion animals and dogs in particular. Full details of the roles, including responsibilities and selection criteria are set out in the Candidate Information Booklet.

Closing Date
The closing date for receipt of applications is 10 am on 19th May 2025.
It is expected the appointments will be from June 2025 for a term of six months.
