TB Partnership Steering Group - Bovine TB in Northern Ireland: Blueprint for Eradication
Date published:
Following the publication of the Chief Veterinary Officer’s Review of bovine Tuberculosis (bTB) in Northern Ireland, which was published in November 2024, the Minister agreed with the CVO’s proposal to establish a new stakeholder body- the TB Partnership Steering Group.
Membership of the TBPSG, which is chaired by the CVO, is as follows:
- Association of Veterinary Surgeons Practising in Northern Ireland
- Dairy Council for Northern Ireland
- Livestock & Meat Commission for Northern Ireland
- Northern Ireland Agricultural Producers’ Association
- Northern Ireland Badger Group
- Northern Ireland Livestock Auctioneers’ Association
- Northern Ireland Meat Exporters’ Association
- North of Ireland Veterinary Association
- Ulster Farmers’ Union
- Ulster Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
- Ulster Wildlife
In addition, the group also contains representation from the Public Health Agency and includes ex-officio members from DAERA’s Veterinary Service Animal Health Group (VSAHG).
The TBPSG’s first task has been to consider the proposals contained within the CVO review and to engage in a process of co-design of policies (whilst recognising ultimate responsibility for decision making in relation to policy rests with the Minister). The work has now been completed and the TBPSG’s Bovine TB in Northern Ireland: Blueprint for Eradication has now been published.
