  • In addition to email notifications, DAERA are now using GVMS to notify traders of the requirement to report to SPS Inspection Facilities

In addition to email notifications from DAERA, the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) provides extra resilience when notifying traders of the requirement to report to DAERA SPS Inspection Facilities for the application of SPS checks and controls.

    Background

Operators are alerted to the requirement to attend inspection via two routes: an email sent to the haulage company, and a detention hold on the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS) system, which is accessible to both the driver and the operator/company before disembarkation or collection of a dropped trailer. For consignments arriving in Belfast, an additional notification of holds is also available via the Stena Smart Screen at the ferry terminal.

It is important to note that emails from DAERA must be checked before trailers are collected from the terminal. In the event of a GVMS failure, if emails from DAERA are not checked and a vehicle fails to report to the relevant SPS Facility, this may lead to potential recall of the consignment for inspection by DAERA.

    Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS)

When moving goods from GB to NI a Goods Movement Reference (GMR) number is generated by the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS). A Goods Movement Reference number links together all the declarations which have been submitted for the goods on your vehicle.

Notification of the requirement to report to DAERA SPS Inspection facilities

In advance of your goods arriving in NI and disembarking from the ferry, you must check the status of your GMR to establish whether a GMR hold is present.

How to Check your GMR Status

Please follow the quick step guidance below to check the status of your GMR enroute to Northern Ireland to determine whether your goods need to report to DAERA Inspection Facilities 30 minutes before disembarkation.

Step 1: Click on the link here

    Step 2: Select ‘Start now’

Step 5: On occasion, the following message may be displayed. This indicates that your DAERA inspection status is not ready yet and you are required to recheck this status before your arrival in Northern Ireland. If no update to this message is displayed before disembarkation, please proceed with your onward journey.
