    Goods Vehicle Movement System

When moving goods from GB to NI a Goods Movement Reference (GMR) number is generated by the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS). A Goods Movement Reference number links together all the declarations which have been submitted for the goods on your vehicle.

Notification of the requirement to report to DAERA SPS Inspection facilities

In advance of your goods arriving in NI and disembarking the ferry you must check the status of your GMR to determine whether:

    • you may continue the journey to your destination (provided you are not required to report for checks by other control bodies).

    or

    • you must report to a DAERA SPS inspection facility for application of SPS checks and controls.

How to Check your GMR Status

Please follow the quick step guidance below to check the status of your GMR on route to Northern Ireland to determine whether your goods need to report to DAERA Inspection facilities 30 minutes before disembarkation.

Step 5: On occasion the following message may be displayed. If no update to this message is displayed before disembarkation, please proceed with your onward journey.
