Summary
The purpose of Directive (EU) 2015/1787 is to revise the monitoring and analysis requirements set out in Annex II and Annex III of Directive 98/86/EC (the Drinking Water Directive). Member States are required to bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the revised Drinking Water Directive by 27 October 2017.

Consultation description
The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs is seeking comments on proposals to introduce new consolidated water quality Regulations relating to the public drinking water supply in order to transpose Directive (EU) 2015/1787.
The purpose of Directive (EU) 2015/1787 is to revise the monitoring and analysis requirements set in Annex II and Annex III of Directive 98/86/EC (the Drinking Water directive). Member States are required to bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with the revised Drinking Water Directive by 27 October 2017.
This consultation paper is specifically seeking comments on the Department's proposals to update and consolidate water quality Regulations relating to the public drinking water supply in order to transpose Directive (EU) 2015/1787. The Department is proposing to revoke and replace the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2007 (as amended).
Following the close of the consultation, the Department has prepared a synopsis of the responses received during the consultation period.
