    Date published: 8 July 2026

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise’s (CAFRE’s) Level 2 Certificate in Agricultural Business Operations course is currently open for applications for a new intake of part-time learners.

Brenda Collins from Fintona, completed the Level 2 Agricultural Business Operations in sheep production course, pictured with Mark Poots, Lecturer CAFRE.

Commenting on the course, Kenneth Johnston, Senior Adviser, said: “Interest remains strong for the Level 2 course, and I encourage anyone considering joining the course later in the year to submit their application as soon as possible.”

The course is targeted at those seeking to enhance their knowledge of agriculture and with delivery one night per week for 20 weeks it is very suitable for those farming part-time. The course will commence at the end of September 2026 running through to February 2027, using a blended approach of face-to-face and online delivery. Face-to-face delivery will be delivered at Enniskillen Campus, Greenmount Campus, Antrim and Loughry Campus, Cookstown, with classes being offered in dairying, beef and sheep production.

Brenda Collins, from Fintona, completed the sheep course saying: “I really enjoyed the course especially the animal health and sheep production modules. The course was ideal for me, being held in the evenings. I learned lots over the 20 weeks of the course which I am now implementing on my home farm. The course provided me with the opportunity to get to know the other sheep farmers from all over Northern Ireland.”

For more information on the course and how to apply, visit the Business Support area of the CAFRE website.
