The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs is seeking to appoint a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson to the Council for Nature Conservation and the Countryside (CNCC).

The deadline for this competition has been extended to midnight on Thursday 31 October 2024.

The CNCC provides independent advice to the Department (DAERA) on matters affecting the Countryside and Nature Conservation and Areas of Special Scientific Interest (ASSIs) with due regard to matters affecting agriculture, forestry and inland fisheries. More information about CNCC.

The total time commitment for the Chairperson of the CNCC Board is 48 days per annum and is remunerated at £10,364 per annum (under review). The total time commitment for the Deputy Chairperson of the CNCC Board is 33 days per annum and is remunerated at £6,964 per annum (under review).

It is expected that the successful candidates will be appointed for a three-year period from 1 June 2025.
