The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise’s Food Packaging Team based at the Loughry Campus is celebrating the achievements of three of its outstanding female learners who have successfully completed the PIABC Level 3 Certificate in Packaging qualification - marking a significant milestone for their careers.
Anna Lowes, Group Central Control PLU Coordinator at ABP Food Group, Chloe Moore, Group Food Safety Supply Chain Technologist, Dunbia and Clare Hughes, Quality Support Manager, Lakeland Dairies (Newtownards), have each demonstrated commitment, skills and leadership throughout the programme, showcasing the valuable contribution women are making across the region’s processing, manufacturing and packaging industries.
The Level 3 Certificate in Packaging course, delivered by CAFRE’s specialist Food Packaging Team, provides learners with a comprehensive understanding of packaging materials, sustainability principles, legislation, food safety, print and design, and the essential role packaging plays in modern supply chains.
The three learners excelled in applying this knowledge to real‑world industry scenarios, bringing back new insights and practical solutions to their workplaces. Their success reflects the growing demand for packaging professionals with technical expertise who can drive sustainability and innovation.
As organisations across Northern Ireland work toward more environmentally responsible practices, their achievements underline the vital role of skilled women in shaping the future of packaging. Their success aligns perfectly with the theme of International Women’s Day, which champions women's advancement, professional development, and leadership in sectors traditionally underrepresented by women.
Speaking about the cohort’s success, Senior Food Technologist, Adele Dallas congratulated their commitment and professionalism: “These learners have shown exceptional dedication throughout the programme. Their achievements reflect not only personal ambition but also the increasing impact women are having across the packaging and agri‑food industries. They are inspiring role models for the next generation considering a career in this exciting and evolving field.”
On International Women’s Day, CAFRE is proud to spotlight these talented professionals and celebrate the growing presence of women driving innovation, sustainability, and excellence within Northern Ireland’s food and packaging sectors.
