  • Poots urges farmers to continue to adhere to safety measures at Livestock Markets

    Topics:

    Date published: 11 August 2020

Agriculture Minister Edwin Poots MLA has urged farmers to continue to adhere to safety measures in place at Livestock Markets in the fight against Covid-19.

He said: “We have entered a critical time in the farming calendar when farmers rely on Livestock Markets for the sale of their breeding and store animals.

“Livestock Market operators, in collaboration with industry stakeholders, have done an excellent job in developing a set of protocols to enable them to conduct business in a manner that is safe for staff, farmers and buyers and adheres to the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Executive.

“I urge farmers to continue to adhere to the safety measures in place to protect themselves and others. We must continue to work together to help reduce the spread of Covid-19 within the farming community.”

Livestock Markets will continue to provide advice and make regular announcements to buyers, sellers and staff on how to adhere to the protocols for the safety of all attending the market.
