  • Statistical Reports on Northern Ireland Agriculture 13/11/25

    Topics:
    • Statistical reports

    Date published: 13 November 2025

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has released two statistical reports.

    DARD report

These are the ‘Statistical Review of Northern Ireland Agriculture 2024’ and ‘Farm Incomes in Northern Ireland 2023/24’.

The Statistical Review is the main compendium of statistics for the agri-food sector. It contains a wide range of economic and physical data, which provide an overview for 2024 and enables comparisons to be made with earlier years. Full details of the 2024 aggregate agricultural income figures and farm level income figures, released in summary form on 26 June 2025, are included.

This year’s ‘Farm Incomes’ report is the 32nd in the series and is based on data collected from 256 farms participating in the annual Farm Business Survey. Within the report information is provided on returns, costs, subsidies, incomes, borrowings, investments and financial position for the main types of farm business within Northern Ireland. There is also a section devoted to the performance of individual farm enterprises. The figures in the report refer mainly to the 2023/24 account year which has an average year end of mid-February 2024.

Copies of these Accredited Official Statistics reports are available free of charge to download from the Department’s website at the following links - DAERA website or @DAERAstats.

    Notes to editors:

    1. The ‘Statistical Review’ contains statistics on the quantities and values of outputs and inputs, on aggregate gross margins, receipts from subsidies, expenditure on capital investment, and average incomes at farm level. Other tables give information on land use, crop areas, livestock numbers, the size and type of farms, employment, rural economy, animal health and welfare, and the environment.

    2. The ‘Statistical Review of Northern Ireland Agriculture, 2024’ is available, free of charge, on the DAERA website and is the Northern Ireland equivalent of 'Agriculture in the United Kingdom 2024', which is available on the DEFRA website . 'Farm Incomes in Northern Ireland 2023/24' is also available on the DAERA website . These reports are no longer available in hardcopy format.

    3. The UK Statistics Authority has confirmed these statistics as accredited official statistics. Accredited official statistics are called National Statistics in the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007. Accreditation signifies production is in accordance with this act and that these statistics comply with the Code of Practice for Statistics.

    • are produced according to sound methods; and
    • are managed impartially and objectively in the public interest.

    5. Once statistics have been accredited it is a statutory requirement that the Code of Practice shall be observed regarding them.

    6. Our statistical practice is regulated by the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR). OSR sets the standards of trustworthiness, quality and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics that all producers of official statistics should adhere to.

    7. These accredited official statistics were independently reviewed by OSR in 2011. They comply with the standards of trustworthiness, quality and value in the Code of Practice for Statistics and should be labelled ‘National Statistics’. National Statistics are accredited official statistics
