  • Sustainable Sector Growth Groups Pilot Scheme

    Date published: 11 November 2025

Applications are open for the Sustainable Sector Growth Groups Pilot Scheme which is one of the three strands within the Horticulture Pilot Scheme.

Trevor Gabbie (John Gabbie & Sons, Comber) and David Dowd (Head of Horticulture Branch, CAFRE) encourage businesses to explore the support available and consider applying for the Sustainable Sector Growth Groups Pilot Scheme.

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) has developed this Pilot Scheme as part of the Sustainable Agriculture Programme to drive the development of the horticulture industry through targeted specific support for horticulture businesses.

Addressing growers on the Pilot Scheme, David Dowd, CAFRE’s Head of the Horticulture Branch, said: “The Sustainable Sector Growth Groups Pilot Scheme will provide an opportunity for horticulture businesses to avail of tailored one-to-one and group advice from crop, business development, and supply chain expert professionals. This approach aims to widen growers’ knowledge and facilitate the development of collaboration to help grow the industry.”

Applications and further information can be accessed through CAFRE’s website where updates are regularly published.

Applications for the Sustainable Sector Growth Groups Pilot Scheme will close on Monday 1 December 2025. Queries regarding the Horticulture Pilot Scheme should be directed to: kt.admin@daera-ni.gov.uk.
