  • Discover CAFRE Enniskillen Campus during Open Farm Weekend

    Date published: 27 May 2026

The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) is inviting the public onto campus during Bank of Ireland’s Open Farm Weekend, with a free, family friendly event taking place at Enniskillen Campus. On Saturday 13 June 2026 (11:00am – 4:00pm) the campus will open its gates for a busy and fun day of hands-on activities, demonstrations and displays, offering visitors a closer look at life at CAFRE.

CAFRE staff Marita O’Loughlin, Nicole Smyth, Helen McElmurray, Jenny Richardson and Fergus McGirr invite you to Open Farm Weekend Enniskillen Campus, on Saturday 13 June, 11:00am – 4:00pm.

Visitors can meet the campus horses and see where they live in our specialist equine facilities. There will be a chance to have a go on our equine simulators and the campus farriers will be in action making horseshoes. Local equestrian riding displays will run throughout the day in the outdoor arena.

The RSPB will be facilitating walks around the nature trail leading to the beautiful Devenish viewpoint, and the Fermanagh Beekeepers’ Association will be present with information stands. Children can enjoy hands on activities including planting seeds and the chance to milk Daisy the cow.

Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic or purchase tea and coffee from on-site vendors. Only assistance dogs on a lead are permitted.

Open Farm Weekend also provides an excellent opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore what CAFRE has to offer. Whether you are finishing school with GCSEs or A Levels, visitors can meet staff, tour facilities and learn more about CAFRE courses and the careers they lead to.

Bank of Ireland Open Farm Weekend is a free to attend initiative led by the Ulster Farmers’ Union, supported by title sponsor Bank of Ireland, platinum sponsor NFU Mutual and school’s day sponsor Asda, alongside event sponsors Dale Farm, Livestock and Meat Commission NI, Pilgrim’s Europe, Thompson’s, and the Irish Farmers’ Journal.

To find out about other participating farms, please visit the Open Farm Weekend website.
