This site is off special scientific interest because of the species diversity (74 vascular plant species) and the variety of grassland communities present.
Jointed Rush dominates along with bugle and the moss Rhytidiadelphus squarrosus on the higher slopes and black knapweed and meadow sweet on the flatter ground. Marsh hawks beard and marsh marigold frequent the wetter areas.
