Straduff Quarry exposes about 70m of strata in the lower part of the Drumlish Conglomerate Formation. These strata are exceptional in that their closest equivalents occur in northeast Canada and not in the British Isles.
The Scarce Blue-tailed Damselfly has been recorded from the site. This is the rarest species of damselfly in Northern Ireland.
