The European Water Framework Directive (2000/60/EC) (WFD) requires the status of groundwater management units (groundwater bodies) within each river basin to be determined as ‘good’ or ‘poor’. This document summarises the approach taken to determining status for groundwater bodies in Northern Ireland, the results of which are reported in the river basin management plans 2015-2021.
