There is growing awareness of the problem of marine plastic pollution, in particular the problem of microplastic pollution. DAERA intends bringing forward the draft Environmental Protection (Microbeads) Regulations 2018 to ban the manufacture and sale of cosmetic products containing plastic microbeads. A copy of the draft legislation is available below.
DAERA welcomes your representations/comments on the draft legislation. These must be made in writing to either:

The closing date for receipt of representations is 10th August 2018.
