Statistics on the state of the water environment are published annually in the Northern Ireland Environmental Statistics Report. Water Framework Directive data is not updated each year due to the timescales of the monitoring. The report below is an update on the status of all water body types: rivers, lakes, transitional & coastal and groundwater prior to the production of the third cycle River Basin Management Plan 2021 – 2027.
