    DAERA has a role in development management and responds to development proposals where there is potential for impacts on the natural and marine environments and fisheries interests.  

    DAERA Planning Consultations Update 

    DAERA wish to alert all customers that we are currently experiencing a very heavy workload resulting in delays to planning consultation responses. The Department is implementing a number of actions to improve our performance and address our current backlog.                                                                                                                 

    As a first step in improving customer service we are publishing information on processing times for all development types, to ensure greater transparency and help manage customer expectations.

    The Planning Response Team is the single point of contact for planning consultations and environmental queries related to planning, and provides a single, integrated response for each consultation across DAERA’s areas of responsibility.

    The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is seeking to appoint a new Chair and up to 18 members to the Council for Nature Conservation and the Countryside (CNCC). The CNCC provides independent, specialist advice to the Department (DAERA) on matters affecting the countryside and nature conservation and Areas of Special Scientific Interest (ASSIs) with due regard to matters affecting agriculture, forestry and inland fisheries.
