    • Agricultural and Market Prices

The agricultural market reports, which are based on surveys, provide weekly and quarterly average prices for clean cattle and sheep and for breeding animals, as well as for pigs, broiler chickens, potatoes and cereals in Northern Ireland.

    Purpose of the Report

The information in the Agricultural Market Report is also used by the food and farming industry for the purposes of lobbying Government and for making commercial choices related to local agricultural markets. The Agricultural Market Report data is available on an historical basis which facilitates academic research examining trends and market interactions. Contact details are available in the publication, for you to send feedback or ask questions about the information provided. Further details are available in the methodology, notes and revisions policy.

The Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC) has provided updated finished cattle deadweight data for the 2024 year. As a result of this, the weekly agricultural market reports have been revised for weeks 34, 46, 49, 50 and 51 of the 2024 year.  For these weeks, the revisions amount to maximum differences of 0.8 p/kg for Steers, 2.1 p/kg for Heifers, 1.1 p/kg for Young bulls, and 3.2 p/kg for Cows at the ‘All Grades’ level.  For all remaining weeks of 2024, the reports remain unchanged as the difference between the updated and original deadweight price data was negligible at the ‘All Grades’ level (i.e. less than 0.3p/kg).
