    Consultation description

A Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a process which ensures that significant environmental effects arising from policies, plans and programmes are identified, assessed, mitigated, communicated to decision-makers, and monitored and that opportunities for public involvement are provided.

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) is pleased to present this Consultation on the SEA Environmental Report for the Proposed Ammonia Strategy and Revised Operational Protocol for Northern Ireland

Updates on the Proposed Ammonia Strategy and the Revised Operational Protocol have been published alongside the SEA Environmental Report to inform stakeholders and support participation in expressing opinions on the SEA Environmental Report. Updated impact assessments are also published alongside the SEA Environmental Report.

DAERA invites members of the public to express their opinion on the Environmental Report and on the associated documents including the Updates on the Proposed Ammonia Strategy and the Revised Operational Protocol.

SEA Screening and SEA Scoping processes were completed in July 2024 for the Proposed Ammonia Strategy and Revised Operational Protocol.

Following this consultation, all responses will be considered and published on the DAERA website. These responses will inform the final SEA Statement, the final Operational Protocol and the final Ammonia Strategy all of which will be published.

With ammonia having the potential to impact various aspects of society we encourage interested parties to express their opinion. The primary method for responses is online via Citizen Space. Please use the green button at the bottom of this page for access to the Citizen Space document.
