Guidance and literature: Fardrum and Roosky Turloughs ASSI

Fardrum and Roosky are the only positively identified turloughs in Northern Ireland and the most northerly in Ireland. These limestone lakes, which dry out in summer, support rare flora in the inundation zone such as adder's-tongue fern and the nationally rare fen violet. The permanently wet basins within the turloughs support vegetation typical of lakes and lake shores.

The turloughs are also home to a number of rare water and ground beetles. These sites have contributed nine new beetle records for Fermanagh.
