The Lake is renowned as a Pike fishery with fish exceeding 14kg. Large perch are also present. Stiles and foot sticks have been provided to give easy access along the shore, much of which is stony and safe for wading, although care should be taken in soft areas. Care should be taken not to cause pollution.

There is restricted access to the East shore of Clay lake due to maintenance and infrastructure removal.
